The famous American writer of Armenian descent, William Saroyan, wrote a work titled “My Name is Aram.” In this book, the young boy narrates captivating stories from his life, immersing the reader into the world of nine-year-old Aram. Let’s delve into the story of another Aram, not the protagonist of another novel, but our contemporary.

In 2005, a little baby was born with the diagnosis of spina bifida. This is where his story begins. Right after birth, he faced surgery and subsequent lengthy examinations. The child grew relatively normally, but the issue with his spine persisted. The problem is that vertebrae are missing on one side of his spine, which leads to severe consequences like stress and wear on the hip joint.

Over time, Aram was seen by German doctors who said he needed spinal surgery. This operation is complex and serious, as it requires the installation of spinal implants. Prior to this, there needs to be a stretch, the results of which will provide necessary information for the subsequent operation. The good news is that doctors in Armenia decided to take on the operation.

Unfortunately, the cost turned out to be as serious as Aram’s story. The preliminary estimate for the implants and surgery is 4,620,000 AMD or 1,138,000₽ (as of August 24, 2023).

At this point, it may seem like the story is at a dead end, but a new chapter titled “Hope” emerges. We will not only initiate this chapter but also carry on this story so that our hero, like Saroyan’s characters, encounters numerous more exciting, joyful, and remarkable tales.
