Viktoria Egiazaryan is an eight-year-old girl born with strabismus in both eyes. Her parents consulted several ophthalmologists in Armenia but were informed that the necessary medical care and equipment to treat her condition were unavailable in the country. Viktoria was referred to the “Yasny Vzor” clinic in Moscow, where a thorough examination revealed additional complications: astigmatism and amblyopia.
At the age of 11 months, Viktoria underwent her first surgery to correct strabismus in one eye. The second surgery followed at 13 months, successfully addressing strabismus in both eyes. Until the age of seven, Viktoria underwent regular examinations every six months at the Moscow clinic for monitoring and follow-up care.
In August 2024, Viktoria required a third surgery to correct astigmatism and begin treatment for amblyopia. However, by this time, the family’s financial resources had been completely exhausted. In desperation, they turned to the charitable foundation “Hurry for Good”, which quickly organized a fundraising campaign for the surgery.
Thanks to a joint effort, including a fundraising campaign through the IMAST app, the necessary amount was raised for the life-changing operation. The campaign resonated with many donors, and the funds allowed Viktoria’s treatment to proceed without delay. Following the timely intervention and successful surgery, Viktoria’s vision improved significantly. Her visual acuity increased by 20-30%. Subsequent consultations confirmed that both eyes are now functioning almost fully. Viktoria no longer needs to wear glasses, which has greatly improved her quality of life and boosted her confidence.
Viktoria’s creative potential blossomed after the surgery. She now enjoys drawing and clay modeling—activities that, thanks to her improved vision, have become more accessible and joyful for her. The second stage of amblyopia treatment will begin in April to further enhance her condition.
