Meet Mia Ispiryan, 6 months old, from Gyumri. Her family lives in a rented apartment in Yerevan. Her father is a construction worker, and her mother is unemployed. Mia is the long-awaited and only child in the family, awaited for 8 years.

During pregnancy, hydrocephalus and the enlargement of the lateral ventricles of the brain (ventriculomegaly) were discovered.
After Mia’s birth, neurosurgeons performed surgery on the 20th day. Throughout this time, the girl has been under the care of doctors.

It was decided to perform shunting to ensure that it does not affect the child’s future development.
To save the child’s life and enable her to live a full life, it was decided to perform shunting. Mia needs 1 programmable valve and 2 catheters.
