Harutyun Dallakyan, a brave 4-year-old boy, has overcome immense challenges in his young life. Displaced by the war that began on September 27, 2020, his family resettled in the village of Yernjatap in the Aragatsotn region. At just six months old, Harutyun faced a severe intestinal infection that required treatment. During this time, it became apparent that he was also experiencing hearing difficulties. After numerous tests and medical interventions, fluid sacs were discovered in his ears, leading to surgery at Shengavit Medical Center. Sadly, the surgery revealed damage to his auditory nerves, and despite trying a hearing aid, it was ineffective.
On November 21, 2022, Harutyun underwent a life-changing cochlear implant surgery at Erebuni Medical Center. A month later, his implant was activated, marking the joyous moment when Harutyun began to hear for the first time. However, earlier this year, the device’s processor was damaged and required repair in the UK. Additionally, some parts of the implant needed replacement, presenting a financial burden beyond the family’s means. Harutyun’s parents, living in a rented apartment, sought help to cover these costs.
Thanks to a successful fundraising campaign in collaboration with the IMAST app, we were able to raise the necessary funds for the repair and replacement of Harutyun’s device components. Today, Harutyun’s implant is fully functional, and he is once again hearing the world around him.
Harutyun’s parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude: “We are endlessly thankful to everyone who helped us during this difficult time. Your kindness has given Harutyun the ability to hear again and restored hope in our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the donors, the ‘Hurry for Good’ foundation, and the IMAST app for making this possible.”
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support and generosity of the community. Together, we’ve made a profound difference in Harutyun’s life, ensuring he can continue to grow and thrive with the gift of hearing. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping restore Harutyun’s world.
